Materials Management

SGI's operations require only a small amount of chemicals, such as: isopropyl alcohol, solder, solvent component cleaner, solder flux, adhesives, nitrogen, epoxy, ink, toner, lubricants, and aerosol paints. These materials are managed to minimize potentially harmful impacts on the environment by:

  • Maintaining low chemical inventory volumes
  • Providing safety and environmental training to all personnel
  • Releasing negligible air emissions
  • Generating very small quantities of hazardous waste
  • Placing a high priority on waste minimization, recycling and reuse programs, and pollution prevention
  • Observing environmental and safety regulations that address chemical, materials, and waste management

SGI recognizes the role it plays in the production of electronic products that must be manufactured with or contain environmentally-sensitive materials such as heavy metals, ozone depleting substances, chlorinated hydrocarbons, etc. SGI strives to meet both voluntary and regulatory measures that address these concerns. Certain materials are minimized or prohibited from SGI's product designs, packaging, and supplier requirements
