SGI's environmental responsibility extends into programs that reduce energy and water consumption, minimize materials for disposal, and provide convenient equipment recovery and product upgrade solutions. Minimizing our use of the world's natural resources and conducting efficient and environmentally sound operations result in cost savings that are passed along to SGI's customers.

SGI maintains building and ventilation controls, such as heat pumps that automatically shut off during evening hours, to reduce energy consumption. One environmental improvement goal that reduced energy consumption saves $29,000 annually. In addition, SGI employees are encouraged to conserve energy by turning off their computers, printers and lights when not in use, and by closing window blinds during high radiant heat hours. SGI also encourages recycling and water conservation, at work and at home.

SGI shares a percentage of the cost savings attained each year with our facility management company to encourage them to assist with environmental enhancement features. These features, which vary across SGI's manufacturing and warehouse facilities, and field offices located throughout the globe, commonly include motion sensors on lighting, automated HVAC systems that balance energy use with occupant comfort, drought-tolerant landscaping, and efficient irrigation systems.
