SGI Names Philippe Miltin Vice President of EMEA Region

IT Veteran to Head Operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., (January 11, 2005)—Silicon Graphics (NYSE: SGI) today announced it has named Philippe Miltin vice president of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. In his new role, Miltin, who previously was regional general manager for Southern Europe at SGI, will oversee day-to-day operations throughout EMEA. In a long-planned organizational restructuring, the company also announced that SGI's previous senior vice president of EMEA, Steve Coggins, will assume the role of chairman for SGI EMEA.

"Philippe has proven to be a strategic asset to our EMEA operations, and his new role of vice president for EMEA is a reflection of his vital contribution to our international business," said SGI chairman and CEO Bob Bishop. "I expect Philippe's extensive experience and strategic insight will continue to help us expand our business in these regions."

Miltin, who has more than 20 years experience in the IT sector, joined SGI in 1993 to develop the channel organization in the French subsidiary, where he aided the growth of revenue in a substantial manner. In 1999, Miltin became the general manager in France. He later assumed responsibility for the entire Southern European region. Prior to joining SGI, Milton held sales positions at Dell, Altos and Rank Xerox.

Coggins joined SGI in 2001 as senior vice president of EMEA. Having spent more than 30 years in the IT sector, Coggins began his career at British Aircraft Corp. where he worked on development of the Concorde, and later held engineering and development positions at IBM. Coggins joined start-up Amdahl Corporation in 1977, helping to grow the company into a market leader and eventually serving as senior vice president and general manager for Amdahl Europe.

Both appointments are effective today.
