SGI and Mitrionics Announce Joint FPGA Supercomputing Workshop Summer Tour in the US and EU
Audience of International Researchers & Scientists Will Develop and Run Applications on the SGI RASC RC100 and Mitrion Virtual Processor LOS ANGELES, Calif., (May 16, 2006)Mitrionics, Inc., the technology leader in programming FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) for supercomputing software acceleration, and Silicon Graphics (OTC: SGID) announce their joint "FPGA Supercomputing Workshop Summer Tour" starting in Paris, France on May 23-24. During the months of May, June and July, SGI and Mitrionics will host a series of workshops in the US and Europe for scientists, researchers, and software developers to receive hands-on training in the software-centric Mitrion-C programming language for FPGAs. The workshops are free of charge and will cover a broad range of introductory-to-advanced topics designed to provide attendees with both a theoretical and working knowledge of how to develop and implement FPGA Supercomputing applications, utilizing the SGI® RASC RC100 computation blade and the Mitrion Platform. The agenda includes topics such as; "Programming the SGI RASC with Mitrion-C", "Mitrion-C Background Quick Walkthrough: A RASC Program", "Getting to Know the Mitrion SDK and Programming in Mitrion-C". Tutors at the workshops are senior development and supercomputing professionals from both SGI and Mitrionics. More information about the upcoming events and how to register can be found at: http://www.mitrionics.com/ "The SGI and Mitrionics workshops are designed to make the complex simple - giving scientists, researchers and software developers first-hand experience on the ease-of-use of our solution and getting them excited about developing applications never before imagined," said Bill Mannel, Director of Systems Marketing, SGI. "Collaborative development with Mitrionics has enabled SGI to provide an FPGA solution that eases the implementation of FPGA technology, making dramatic application performance enhancements available to more users than ever before."
