Researchers at the University of Illinois tapped the computational power of the SGI Altix at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) to create the first atomic-level simulation of a complete functioning organism. This computing capability and research results hold great promise for speeding the development of new drugs to combat viruses in all living things.
