Unveiled at a press conference on February 2, 2007 at the University of California, Riverside Bourns College of Engineering, the SGI Altix system, which was installed in December 2006, will serve as an essential resource for a new generation of studies in computer-based modeling and simulation, Internet architectures, bioinformatics, machine learning and data mining.
