SGI Announces Day One Support Of New Six-Core AMD Opteron™ Processors
SGI Increases Energy Efficiency and Optimizes Performance with AMD Six-Core Enabled Products
FREMONT, CA (June 1, 2009) — SGI® (NASDAQ: SGI) announced today the immediate availability of servers based on the new Six-Core AMD Opteron™ processors (codenamed "Istanbul"). SGI will offer a wide selection of server models that will use the new Six-Core AMD Opteron processors to help increase energy efficiency, and ensure superior value and optimal performance for demanding, real-world server and workstation application workloads.

SGI servers with Six-Core AMD Opteron processors address core scale-out needs in Internet and high performance computing markets such as federal government, digital media, financial services, and oil and gas exploration. A wide variety of models supporting the new processors are available, spanning SGI’s server and storage product lines. Rack- and data center-level solutions are also available, ranging from ICE Cube® modular data centers, CloudRack® C2 enclosures to standard rackmount products.
