SGI Names Franz Aman as Chief Marketing Officer
Seasoned Executive to Drive Global Marketing Efforts for Leading Provider of Technical Computing Solutions
Fremont, Calif. — July 13, 2011 — SGI (NASDAQ: SGI), a trusted leader in technical computing, today announced that senior technology executive Franz Aman has joined the company as chief marketing officer and will be part of the company's executive management team.

Prior to joining SGI, Mr. Aman was vice president of new product concepts at SAP Labs. Previously, he served as SAP's vice president of business intelligence (BI) and enterprise information management marketing, extending the company's number one position in the BI market. Before joining SAP, Mr. Aman held corporate marketing leadership positions at Business Objects and BEA Systems, with a focus on growing the companies' brands and reach in the market. He also spent time in leading marketing and engineering roles for both software and hardware products at Sun Microsystems.

Mr. Aman holds a diploma in geophysics from Ludwig-Maximilians Universitšt in Munich. His field of study included experimental and theoretical physics, astrophysics and computer science.
