SGI Launches New Performance-Optimized Enterprise Storage Systems and New All-Flash Array for Big Data and HPC Workloads
New SGI® InfiniteStorage™ 5100 Breaks New Ground in Performance, Efficiency and Reliability
MILPITAS, CA. — January 21, 2014 — SGI (NASDAQ: SGI), the trusted leader in high performance computing and Big Data, today announced the introduction of SGI® InfiniteStorage™ 5100, SGI® InfiniteStorage™ 5600 FC16, SGI® InfiniteStorage™ 5500-F, and SGI® InfiniteStorage™ 5600-F, supported by the InfiniteStorage Storage Management (ISSM) 11.10. These enhancements to the SGI InfiniteStorage 5000 series will enable customers to tackle their Big Data challenges with enhanced computing, performance and scalability, accelerating the discovery of actionable insights and innovation. The following new SGI Storage solutions include:
SGI InfiniteStorage 5100
SGI InfiniteStorage 5500-F and 5600-F Flash Array
SGI InfiniteStorage 5600 FC16
InfiniteStorage Storage Management (ISSM) 11.10
These new products, as part of the SGI InfiniteStorage 5000 series, enable high performance computing (HPC) customers to execute metadata acceleration for CXFS (SGI's high performance clustered file system), while maintaining the sub-millisecond low latency consistency needed for enterprise grade response and reliability. In addition, customers will benefit from rapid flash acceleration, achieving the transactional performance of over 1,000 traditional 15K drives with a single 2U Flash Array. The InfiniteStorage 5000 series also comes equipped with a robust data management system targeting smaller cluster or right-sized HPC building blocks for performance computing. Compared to previous generations, the updated InfiniteStorage series offers enhanced intelligence through Dynamic Rebalancing - enabling a cost efficient solution that maximizes storage drives and eliminates unneeded data.
"We are pleased to now deliver flash-accelerated storage and continue providing industry-leading data management solutions for our customers," said Jorge Titinger, president and CEO of SGI. "By expanding our IS5000 series, we are excited to deliver a price performance offering that meets increasing market demands."
