FileTek Acquisition

As of October 1, 2013, SGI is pleased to announce that we have acquired the assets and hired key employees of FileTek, Inc. SGI delivers technical computing, Big Data analytics, cloud computing, and petascale storage solutions that accelerate time to discovery, innovation, and profitability. The FileTek acquisition expands SGI's leadership delivering storage solutions that enable our customers to manage data assets efficiently, reduce administrative overhead, and lower the cost of high-volume storage.

General

  1. I am a current SGI customer, what does this acquisition mean for me?
    This exciting acquisition means:
    • SGI is expanding its storage ecosystem, enhancing the ability to deliver solutions that enable government and commercial enterprise environments to manage peta-scale data assets efficiently, maximize resources, and lower the cost of Big Data and high volume storage. SGI is adding two FileTek software solutions to our offerings: Trusted Edge® and StorHouse®.

    • Trusted Edge software adds intelligent analysis of data assets held on heterogeneous primary storage and automated, policy-based data migration for SGI® InfiniteStorage™ Gateway solutions.

    • StorHouse adds a proven, world-class information lifecycle management and active archive solution that includes structured data, complementing SGI's renowned highly-scalable DMF technology for unstructured data.

    • SGI intends to integrate best of breed SGI and FileTek technologies over time, while protecting your SGI investments.

    • SGI is proud to welcome FileTek engineers to our world renowned engineering team, as well as the expertise of FileTek services and support staff to SGI's global support organization.

  2. I am a current FileTek customer, what does this acquisition mean for me?
    This exciting acquisition means:
    • You will gain world-renowned innovation, financial strength, and global support from SGI for Trusted Edge and StorHouse solution investments.

    • SGI will continue to develop, sell and support Trusted Edge and StorHouse products under the SGI brand.

    • SGI intends to integrate best of breed SGI and FileTek technologies over time, while protecting your FileTek investments.

    • SGI brings a strong balance sheet with over $750M in annual sales and market validation reflected by a doubling in year over year stock prices with an enthusiastic investor outlook.

    • SGI is proud to welcome FileTek engineers to our world renowned engineering team, as well as the expertise of FileTek services and support staff to SGI's global support organization.

  3. Should FileTek customers continue with their Trusted Edge and StorHouse implementations?
    Yes, current FileTek customers should continue with their implementations. SGI is committed to continuing development and support of this technology under the SGI brand, and ensuring a seamless roadmap to future-generation capabilities over time.
  4. Will SGI have regular communications with FileTek customers?
    Yes, SGI will continually communicate to FileTek customers during the integration process. The most updated information can always be found at www.sgi.com/filetek. In the event that customers have individual questions or issues that need to be addressed, please send a message to filetek@sgi.com.
  5. Will existing FileTek customer contracts be honored?
    Yes, SGI intends to honor the terms and conditions of existing FileTek contracts.
  6. Are FileTek's solutions still available for purchase?
    Yes, Trusted Edge and StorHouse products are immediately available from SGI. SGI will continue to develop Trusted Edge and StorHouse products and will sell and support these products under the SGI brand, providing a solid path to the future for current FileTek customers and potential customers considering FileTek solutions.
  7. Can I work with my current FileTek Partner?
    Yes, you can continue to work with your FileTek partner. In the event that you have individual questions or issues that need to be addressed, please send a message to filetek@sgi.com.

Training and Customer Support

  1. Will training on StorHouse and Trusted Edge products continue?
    Yes. We understand the key role that training plays in our customers' success. As we integrate FileTek solutions under the SGI brand, customer education will continue to be delivered without interruption.
  2. Can FileTek customers utilize SGI's Support community?
    FileTek customers can sign up on SGI's Support community (Supportfolio™) at support.sgi.com. Over time, SGI will incorporate FileTek into the Supportfolio community, providing you with online access to software downloads, technical help, the SGI knowledgebase, service call login and tracking, and much more.

  3. Who do I contact if I need FileTek product support?
    Thru October 31, 2013, please continue to contact FileTek as you would have in the past (see http://www.filetek.com/support/support). After that time, customers can contact the SGI Customer Support Center to initiate a support call (contact information is available at http://www.sgi.com/support/supportcenters.html).
