FileTek Acquisition

As of October 1, 2013, SGI is pleased to announce that we have acquired the assets and hired key employees of FileTek, Inc. SGI delivers technical computing, Big Data analytics, cloud computing, and petascale storage solutions that accelerate time to discovery, innovation, and profitability. The FileTek acquisition will enhance SGI's abilities to manage data assets efficiently and optimize storage resources, reduce administrative overhead, and lower the cost of high-volume storage.

SGI Strategy & Plans

  1. What is the combined SGI and FileTek product roadmap?
    SGI intends to integrate the best of breed capabilities of SGI and FileTek technologies over time, while protecting your SGI and FileTek solution investments.

Reseller Agreements

  1. Does my existing partner agreement carry on 'as is'?
    FileTek reseller agreements are being assigned to SGI, and partners will receive an assignment document to sign to execute this transition.
  2. Will I have to sign an Agreement with SGI?
    Yes, by December 1, 2013, SGI will meet with partners to discuss their business requirements and to determine the product set that best fits their business needs. To continue selling the StorHouse® and Trusted Edge® products long term, SGI will require partners sign an SGI channel agreement.
  3. If I have existing channel agreements with SGI and FileTek, will I have to sign a new SGI agreement?
    No, your SGI agreement by its nature will include the StorHouse and Trusted Edge products once they are in the SGI Price Book. Until that time, you will purchase the FileTek products using the process currently in place with FileTek. If you have only an SGI agreement, the StorHouse and Trusted Edge products will be available for you to resell, once they are available in the SGI Price Book.

Orders & Opportunities

  1. Should my FileTek customers continue with their Trusted Edge and StorHouse implementations?
    Yes, current FileTek customers should continue with their implementations. SGI is committed to continuing development and support of this technology under the SGI brand, and ensuring a seamless roadmap to future-generation capabilities over time.
  2. Will existing FileTek customer contracts be honored?
    Yes, SGI intends to honor the terms and conditions of existing FileTek contracts.
  3. Are FileTek's solutions still available for purchase?
    Yes, Trusted Edge and StorHouse products are immediately available from SGI. SGI will continue to develop Trusted Edge and StorHouse products and will sell and support these products under the SGI brand, providing a solid path to the future for current FileTek partners, customers and potential customers considering FileTek solutions.
  4. I have opportunities in my current funnel with FileTek. Can I continue to close these?
    Absolutely, in the short term you will continue to use your existing quote/order process with FileTek. As we transition to purchase from SGI, we will guide you through that process.
  5. Will SGI honor the pricing and discount levels on my existing proposals? For how long?
    Yes, any quotes/proposals that are still active will maintain the FileTek discounts. Quotes will be valid for the standard time periods. It is our intention to move the StorHouse and Trusted Edge products to the SGI price book and discount tables within the next quarter.

Pricing & Discounting

  1. What pricing will I receive for FileTek products from SGI?
    During this transition, FileTek pricing, standard and opportunity registration discounts remain unchanged.
  2. Will pricing change for the FileTek products?
    As SGI incorporates the FileTek products into our portfolio, we may make adjustments to list prices and discounts. It is our intent to ensure that partner margins are protected. SGI also has an Opportunity Registration Program for partners that protects the investment of the partners who bring new business to SGI.

Training and Customer Support

  1. Will training on StorHouse and Trusted Edge products continue?
    Yes. We understand the key role that training plays in our partner's success. As we integrate FileTek solutions under the SGI brand, partner training and accreditation will be delivered and available for our partners. Partners will also receive training on SGI technology.
  2. Will FileTek customers have access to SGI's Support community?
    Yes, FileTek customers can sign up on SGI's Support community (SupportfolioTM) at support.sgi.com. Over time, SGI will incorporate FileTek into the Supportfolio community, providing your customers with online access to software downloads, technical help, the SGI knowledgebase, service call login and tracking, and much more.
  3. Who do I contact if I need FileTek product support?
    Thru October 31, 2013, please continue to contact FileTek as you would have in the past (see http://www.filetek.com/support/support). After that time, customers can contact the SGI Customer Support Center to initiate a support call (contact information is available at http://www.sgi.com/support/supportcenters.html).

    In the event that customers have individual questions or issues that need to be addressed, please send a message to filetek@sgi.com.

Communications/Partner Portal

  1. Will SGI communicate regularly with Partners?
    Yes, SGI will regularly communicate with Partner via our email ChannelFlash. Updated public information can be found at www.sgi.com/filetek. In the event that you have questions, please contact channels@sgi.com.
  2. Who are my points of contact for sales assistance and technical support?
    Many of the contacts that you have with FileTek will continue to assist you post-acquisition. If you have any questions, require a quote, sales support, technical assistance near term, please contact Nathan Orr at norr@sgi.com in the US and outside the US contact Gary Szukalski at gszukalski@sgi.com.
  3. Will SGI have regular communications with FileTek customers?
    Yes, SGI will communicate to FileTek customers during the integration process. In fact, a message to customers has already been sent, announcing this acquisition. The most updated information can be found at www.sgi.com/filetek. If customers have individual questions or issues, they can send a message to filetek@sgi.com.
  4. Will I still use the FileTek Partner Portal for information and opportunity registrations?
    Yes, the FileTek Partner Portal will remain active for a limited period of time, partners will be transitioned to the SGI Channel Network Portal as SGI Channel Member agreements are executed.
  5. Can I get access to the Channel Network Portal today?
    Yes, to register for access to the SGI Channel Network Portal, go to https://channels.sgi.com/register.aspx and select the radio button next to Already a Partner and submit. Once the screen refreshes scroll down to complete the contact form and submit. You will receive a welcome letter email from sgi@treehousei.com with your username and temporary password.
  6. Do you have plans for helping me get up to speed on how to work with SGI?
    Yes, SGI offers Onboard training which assists partners in understanding our program, procedures, tools and resources. We will be scheduling onboarding training as we transition partners to the SGI Channel Network Portal. If you are anxious to have this training sooner vs. later, please send an email to channels@sgi.com and we will arrange a time that's convenient for you.
  7. FileTek sends us regular information via their Partner Flash. Does SGI offer any communication mechanism like that?
    Yes, SGI has a weekly email, ChannelFlash. Once you have access to the Channel Network Portal, you are automatically subscribed to receive ChannelFlash as well as the SGI Insider Newsletter sent to customers monthly.
