Authored by SGI's Bill Buhro, this article describes the installation of an 8TB SGI InfiniteStorage NAS system to create a centralized shared environment for encoders, asset management software, Avid nonlinear editors, read-ony graphics workstations and older storage. The production department for the Miami HEAT NBA team creates content on the SGI NAS system approximately 16 hours a day, in season, for many outlets, including pre-game shows, half-time shows and withing the on-air broadcast.
