Computer or OS-Specific Questions
Will I be able to use my Macintosh G4 with the 1600SW? Please see Apple FAQ What happened to the 1600SW and Number Nine Revolution IV video card bundle for Macs? SGI's new bundle for Mac users pairs the 1600SW with the award-winning Formac ProFormance 3 graphics card (SGI Part # MON00015). This replaces the previous Mac bundle, which included a Mac version of Number Nine Revolution IV card (MON00010). For more information on the Formac ProFormance 3, please visit http://www.formac.com/ Are the 1600SW and the Number Nine Revolution IV card supported by Windows 2000? Yes. Windows 2000 supports the Revolution IV card, allowing users to run with the full 1600x1024 resolution. However, it does not yet have drivers for color temperature and brightness controls or drivers for DirectDraw and Direct3D.
Additionally, the MultiLink Adapter enables you to connect the 1600SW to any Windows,
Mac OS, or Linux® systems, with a VGA, DVI, or DFP video connector. It provides color
temperature, brightness, and other picture controls.
To use the Number Nine graphics card bundle for PC (PCI or AGP) with a Linux system, you will
need to download Linux drivers. Number Nine developed Linux drivers for the Revolution IV-FP
card and has submitted them to Xfree. These drivers work on Intel® processor-based
systems and have been incorporated into Xfree release 3.3.3.1. More
