SGI® StorHouse® - Relational File System
Enabling organizations to backup, archive and access all file-based data
Relational File System is a comprehensive, easy-to-deploy file system interface that enables applications writing to NFS/NTFS/CIFS file systems to archive and retrieve medical images, scientific and biomedical research data, documents, e-mail, voice mail, video, and other digitized data in file format to/from a StorHouse virtual storage solution. No API is required. StorHouse simply appears on a network as a single, unified file share. Users and applications can access the file share through traditional drive letter mapping (V:\) or a server-oriented file path
Relational File System leverages StorHouse scalability, storage virtualization, and data integrity features to create enterprise archive solutions that can grow to trillions of files without impacting the integrity or stability of the archive. In fact, Relational File System remains a cost-effective, accessible, performance-oriented solution well beyond the benchmark that defines when most file systems and relational databases begin to fail.
Major benefits include:
Organizations and government agencies worldwide currently use Relational File System for digital preservation initiatives, active archive applications, and native file format backups of terabytes to petabytes of file-based data.
