SAN Infrastructure - High-performance Fibre Channel Switches for SAN Environments

Brocade
To provide a powerful yet flexible framework for addressing critical storage area network (SAN) requirements, Brocade has developed the Intelligent Fabric Operating Environment. The key components of this architecture-the Brocade® family of fabric switches, Brocade Fabric OS, Brocade Advanced Fabric Services, and third-party development environment-provide the reliable foundation for storage networks ranging from a few switches to thousands of ports.

The Brocade Intelligent Fabric Operating Environment provides the basic switching functions, Fabric Connectivity Services, Fabric Management Services, Fabric Application Services, and support that improve manageability, availability, security, and scalability while enabling new types of applications. These services help evolve the network into an intelligent SAN fabric-a more robust interconnectivity solution that integrates data transport with application services-increasing operational efficiencies and extending the value of the SAN fabric.

The Brocade® 48000, Brocade® 4900, Brocade® 5000, and Brocade® 200E switch models are enhancements to a growing family of products that leverage the next-generation architecture and services to extend the SAN environment, providing high-performance and cost-effective storage networking capabilities.

Brocade® 48000
Brocade 48000 The Brocade 48000 Director provides unique capabilities to meet the full spectrum of mission-critical requirements for enterprise SAN environments. It scales non-disruptively from 32 to as many as 256 concurrently active 4 Gbit/sec full-duplex ports in a single domain. Its reliable, high-availability capabilities make it ideal for enterprise management and high volume transaction processing applications such as ERP and data warehousing, as well as data backup.

With its fifth-generation, high-performance architecture, the Brocade 48000 is ideal for use in the core of large SANs that require the highest levels of performance. To provide even higher performance, enhanced Brocade ISL Trunking combines up to eight 4 Gbit/sec ports between a pair of directors into a single, logical high-speed trunk running at up to 32 Gbit/sec. The Brocade 48000 is designed to integrate with heterogeneous environments that include IBM zSeries server and open platforms with multiple operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, and i5/OS.

Brocade® 4900
Brocade 4900 The Brocade 4900 is a high-performance, high-availability Fibre Channel switch that provides high port density for addressing mission-critical storage requirements. With a flexible architecture that supports 1, 2, and 4 Gbit/sec technology with 32, 48, or 64 ports, the Brocade 4900 provides an affordable high-port-count, single-domain solution.

The Brocade 4900 provides "pay-as-you-grow" scalability through flexible Ports on Demand capabilities. Because it is fully compatible with previous 1 and 2 Gbit/sec devices, the Brocade 4900 protects existing technology investments while providing a strategic solution for the future.
