SGI InfiniteStorage Servers

SGI InfiniteStorage Servers provide incredible configuration flexibility, in a variety of half-depth and standard-depth, 3U or 4U rackmount chassis profiles featuring a wide variety of processor and drive configurations.

The newest addition to this line is SGI Modular InfiniteStorage Server (SGI MIS Server) a breakthrough storage server platform that delivers extreme density by packaging up to two motherboards together with up to 72 3.5" SAS or SATA drives or 144 2.5" SAS or SSD drives within a single 4U, chassis. Each of the two compute engines in SGI MIS Server provides dual socket capability which will be populated with one or two processors from the future Intel® Xeon® processor E5 family.

With Linux® and Microsoft Windows™ and VMware compatibility, these platforms provide flexible, cost-effective choices solution for a wide variety of applications that have tightly coupled compute and storage requirements. These include:

  • Web and Media Servers
  • Engineering Design (CAD) and Software Repositories
  • Home Directories and Shares
  • Corporate Document Repositories
  • Database and Email Servers, including Oracle™, MySQL, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange.

SGI MIS Server is available for pre-order now, with general availability in March 2012.
