This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to configure, maintain, diagnose, and repair data failures associated with the following SGI InfiniteStorage platforms: IS2116 and IS2224, IS5016, IS5024 EBOD storage systems and the IS4100, IS5100, IS5500 and IS5600 high performance RAID storage systems.

At course completion, the student will be able to install, configure, administrate, maintain and perform fault isolation to the field replaceable unit (FRU) level using a variety of managment tools, interfaces and utilities. This course also introduces the student to performance tuning and evaluation by testing a configuration utilizing techniques such as filesystem RAID stripe alignment, command tagged queuing, altering storage system parameters, and configuring multi-pathing.


  • Students should have SGI Linux -series based server experience
  • It is recommended but not required that students should have successfully completed the TPSSA course.

Site and Material Requirements

  • A SGI Linux-based server configured with a dual-port Host Bus Adapter (HBA) or Host Channel Adapeter (HCA) for Fibre Channel, SAS or Infiniband RAID Controller's and an afore-mentioned EBOD and RAID storage system with appropriate cables per student group. Optionally, a Fibre Channel and/or Infiniband switch is recommended to demonstrate SAN and cluster-based configurations. Each student group will require a workstation to run the management tools and utilities.
