What courses are available via the virtual classroom environment?

What are the system requirements for using the virtual classroom environment?

The system that you use to view the class lecture Web broadcasts must meet the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, or Mac OS 10.2+
  • Internet Explorer 6.0+, Mozilla 1.7+, Netscape 7.2+, Firefox 1.5+, or Safari 1.0+
  • Java, JavaScript, and cookies must be enabled
  • WebEx plugin from MeetingVisuals (downloads automatically the first time you join the Web conference)

The system that you use to participate in the remote labs must meet the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, Mac OS 9+, or Linux
  • VNC viewer application (recommended: TightVNC viewer)
    Note: The Java TightVNC viewer supports Mac OS.
  • SSH client (optional for most courses; consult your instructor for details)

What is a typical daily session like for a weeklong class?

The instructor will present the lecture portion of the class each day during the first 2 to 3 hours of scheduled class time. After that, you are free to complete the lab exercises at your own pace before the next day's lecture begins. Your instructor will be available to answer your questions via email during the scheduled class hours. Questions submitted outside of the scheduled class hours will be addressed at the beginning of the next lecture.

Do I receive courseware with a virtual class?

Yes. You will receive printed copies of the student and lab manuals before the class begins.

May I copy and/or redistribute the courseware?

No. Your student and lab manuals contain copyrighted material. Your virtual class purchase entitles you to one printed copy of each manual. You should not copy or redistribute the manuals that you receive.

May I record the class and share it with my co-workers?

No. The course contains copyrighted material. Your virtual class purchase entitles you to attend one live Webcast of the entire course. You should not record or attempt to redistribute the course.

How do I register for a virtual class?

You can register for a virtual class from its course description page or from the Class Schedule page. We will process your registration and contact you regarding payment. Once payment is received, we will send you the information required to access the Webcast and teleconference.
