Deployable High-Performance Computing

While many military functions can be implemented on distributed and/or low-powered systems, significant applications of high-performance computing (HPC) for military and space operations require high-end compute capabilities in small, deployable configurations. Computer systems for ground or sea deployment have significant size and weight constraints. Airborne systems are even more constrained, and are also subject to power consumption limitations and the increased need for reliable interconnections.

Proactive research and development has helped SGI remain at the forefront of deployable HPC technology. SGI deployable HPC solutions provide computational cycles to address mission objectives and meet stressing mission requirements. SGI's high-performance scale up or scale out blade architecture is uniquely suited for deployable HPC in new program designs, future combat systems, next generation ships, unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles (UAVs and UUVs), and new satellite constellations.
