New SGI® InfiniteStorage Systems Deliver Enterprise Level Technology at an Entry Level Price
SGI announced the availability of two new entry-level, scalable SGI InfiniteStorage systems to complement the scalability, capacity and performance of its higher-end storage systems. Now shipping, the SGI® InfiniteStorage 350 offers enterprise level RAID performance at an entry level price while the SGI® InfiniteStorage 120 is a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) JBOD. Both products are designed to match customers' data management needs with the appropriate class of SGI distributed storage and deliver high capacity with increased density.

MIPS® IRIX® Products Approach End of Production: December 29, 2006
SGI launched its world renowned MIPS IRIX family of products in 1988. Since then, this technology has powered servers, workstations, and visualization systems used extensively in Manufacturing, Media, Science, Government/Defense, and Energy. After nearly two decades of leading the world in innovation and versatility, the MIPS IRIX products will end their general availability on December 29, 2006.

A quarter-century ago, medical professionals caught their first glimpse of the organism that touched off the most terrible plague of modern times: HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Since then, researchers have sought to view the moments at which "starter molecules" for HIV are most vulnerable to new drugs.
With help from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and Silicon Graphics, Inc., a group of scientists from Stony Brook University in New York have done just that.
