On May 8 of this year, SGI began the grueling work of recreating itself.
And in fewer than six months, it's already done. Say hello to the New SGI. As SGI emerged from Chapter 11 on October 17, it was immediately clear to all that SGI's transformation has been profound, its new executive team leaving no part of the organization untouched.
On October 24, 2006 SGI expects to introduce two New NAS appliances: the SGI® InfiniteStorage NAS 4550 system, and the SGI InfiniteStorage NAS 4050 system.
Unlike other storage appliances, the SGI InfiniteStorage NAS 4550 and NAS 4050 systems envision a streamlined installation process that takes minutes, not hours or even days to complete. The new solutions were created for customers in high-performance computing environments such as scientific engineering research or enterprise requiring network-attached storage and prompt access to large data sets. Typical applications include: government/aerospace, energy, genetics/drug research, life sciences and bioengineering, and high tech engineering, among others. The new products are RoHS-compliant, meeting European Commission environmental standards. The world’s most scalable next-wave computing platform
