This course provides the experienced Linux® user with the skills and information needed to administer the SGI Altix 3000/4000 family of servers and superclusters. Lab exercises are included to prepare students for the actual work environment.
** Note ** This class is specifically for customers who are using the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) based Altix Environment . The class is based on the SLES10 with the additional SGI ProPack 5 software.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Plan and install SGI ProPack and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server
- Plan and perform a software upgrade
- Configure EFI shell boot options and elilo.conf
- Startup (EFI startup) and shut down the Altix 3000 family server.
- Partition and build a system disk
- Build multipartition (concat, stripe, mirror) filesystems with XVM
- Setup and use Performance Co-Pilot (PCP)
- Install SGI specific kernel modules
- Install the Intel compiler environment modules
- Setup an array for SGI MPI applications
- Use taskset, dplace and cpusets to pin an application
