The goal of this course is to teach field service and technical support technicians the skills necessary to install, configure, and perform first-line maintenance on the SGI® storage area networks (SANs) solution.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Install the Qlogic® adapter boards into the SGI host systems
  • Cable the adapter boards, switches, and classroom RAID into specific system configurations
  • Configure the Brocade® switches to support specific system configurations
  • Configure ISL trunking and fabric watch
  • Identify the field replaceable units (FRUs)

Prerequisites

Students must understand Fibre Channel protocol and terminology, be able to identify general Fibre Channel and RAID hardware components, and be able to explain RAID technology.
