Audience

Customer support personnel and business partners who are responsible for the operation, maintenance and support of storage systems. Experienced in IS4000 or IS4500 Sales. Those in pre-sales technical roles such as Systems Engineers.

Course Description

Success in supporting and maintaining optimal storage systems requires the ability to rapidly assess a situation, analyze information, and determine a timely solution. This instructor-led course presents the technical aspects of supporting and maintaining IS4X00 storage systems within a complete data storage solution. Participants will have the opportunity to practice different procedures related to diagnosing storage systems, troubleshooting techniques and maintenance related procedures at a customer site.

This course uses a case-study approach and group problem determination exercises to provide the participant opportunity to analyze and diagnose several storage system solutions, HBA and multipathing drivers, upgrade controller firmware and host software. The lecture part of the course will include an in depth discussion of how to use the tools available in the storage manager to analyze storage system situations, including an analysis of the support data files.

The course concludes with a lab exercise that is a scenario based ultimate challenge where the participants will have the opportunity to apply what they learn in order to solve several different storage-related situations.

Requirements

  • Previous attendance in an IS4X00 course.
  • Experience with Windows, UNIX, or LAN/WAN fundamentals, TCP/IP
  • 2+ Years knowledge or experience with Storage Area Networks (SANs) and Fibre Channel topology.
  • For optimal success in the training, we recommend that participants are familiar with systems administration or are power users in UNIX/Linux or Windows environments. (i.e., using Disk Management, creating & mapping disks and files systems)

Objectives

At the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

  • Undertake the process necessary to make a decision on a problem.
  • Use the correct procedures for removing and replacing storage system components
