Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Configure systems into local area networks using multiple routes between the individual LANS
- Successfully troubleshoot a network
- Administer the configuration files for the Unified Name Service (UNS)
- Centrally administer important configuration files for multiple LANs using Network Information Services (NIS)
- Provide reliable host and IP address resolution for multiple LANs using a Domain Name System (DNS)
- Configure systems to forward and relay electronic mail within simple networked environments
- Configure systems to share remote files and directories between networked filesystems using NFS and AutoFS
- Administer systems using the available security features
Prerequisites
Students should have completed the following SGI course:
This course is intended for:
- System administrators who will manage multi-user environments.
- System administrators who will manage Local Area Networks.
- Individuals who have completed IRIX System Administration I or equivalent, have knowledge of a text editor and six or more months of experience as an IRIX system administrator.
