The IRIX Advanced System Administration class provides experienced system administrators with the tools and skills to both monitor a system for errors and tune it for better performance. This course covers how to correct system errors, reconfigure the system, tune system resources, and implement disk quotas.

Objectives

Prerequisites
- IRIX System Administration I and IRIX System Administration II
- Experience as a system administrator managing multiuser or project group systems; attendance in System Administration courses or the ability to comfortably set up and manage an IRIX system
- Ability to install and configure IRIX; set up and attach devices such as printers, tape devices, and terminals; and repartition and reconfigure disks and filesystems
The student is overqualified if he/she can:
- Reconfigure the IRIX kernel, identify system errors and performance bottlenecks and implement a course of action to remedy the problems, and implement disk quotas
