This course is designed to provide the system support engineer (SSE) with the knowledge and skills necessary to configure, maintain, diagnose, and repair data failures associated with the SGI® InfiniteStorage 120, 220, 350, 4000, and 4500 high performance storage systems.
Skills Addressed:
- Describe the features of the various storage arrays
- Describe the hardware components of the storage arrays
- Correctly cable the storage systems to servers and storage area networks (SANs)
- Use graphical user interface, command line interface, shell commands, and the script editor to configure, monitor, and manage the array
- Install and configure storage array premium features
- Interpret RLS diagnostic information to identify a FRU
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to install and cable the storage system, isolate storage system problems to the field-replaceable unit (FRU) level, and perform necessary maintenance tasks. This course also introduces students to the four user interfaces used to access the storage system: graphical user interface, command line interface, shell interface, and the scripting editor. The class is approximately 40% lecture and 60% lab.
Prerequisites:
- Student must be an SGI employee or SGI-approved service provider
- Non-GCS service personnel must possess a maintenance agreement
- Students should have SGI Linux-series based server experience
- Successful completion of the TPSSA course is recommended but not required.
