SGI® InfiniteStorage NAS Administration

Course Length: 2 Days  |  Price: TBA Payment Information  |  Dates: TBD

This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, maintain, diagnose, and repair data failures associated with the SGI's Network Attached Storage System (NAS) product offerings.

NAS provides a universal data access point by connecting a high-performance storage system to an Ethernet network using NFS, CIFS, or FTP protocols to serve clients (UNIX, Windows, and Apple) in a heterogeneous environment. Network Load Balancing (NLB) software maximizes performance across multiple Ethernet connections on the Data Manager(s). NAS Data Managers (Origin/Altix350 servers) can be set-up in a FailSafe configuration to maintain high reliability and availability. NAS scalability is achieved by adding additional disks to an existing storage system or by connecting additional storage systems together through a storage area network (SAN).

At course completion, the student will be able to install, configure, and maintain SGI supported NAS configurations by using the NAS Manager, storage (TPSSM) and FailSafe graphical user interfaces (GUI).

Topics Covered

  • Review of NAS hardware component functions
  • Cabling supported NAS configurations
  • Installing and licensing applicable NAS and support software
  • Configuring the storage system with NAS Manager GUI
  • Configuring NLB
  • Configure NAS in a FailSafe cluster
  • Monitor the system with NAS Manager GUI
