The Real-Time Programming course for the Power Series™, Silicon Graphics® Onyx®, Challenge®, and the SGI® Origin® family servers teaches programmers the techniques required to write programs that use the real-time capabilities of SGI® multiprocessor workstations. Students also learn how to optimize and tune their programs and systems to increase performance.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Create programs for a guaranteed response time
  • Tune programs and systems for real-time operation
Target Audience

This course is intended for programmers who are familiar with real-time applications, including visual simulation, flight simulation, process control, or high-speed data acquisition and analysis but cannot write or tune applications using SGI® REACT™ software.

Prerequisites

Students should have C or Fortran programming experience.
