This course is designed to take an administrator that is relatively familiar with Linux and help them understand how the use the Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management product to simplify the management of their Linux servers and workstations. Because this is the only course available on the Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management product, this course starts with and installation discussion and introduces the product features. The course then covers real-world examples of how each feature of the Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management product can be implemented and how the features can reduce the Linux cost of ownership.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Implement the Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management product in their environment
  • Understand the basic troubleshooting for the product.

Target Audience
The target audience for this course is anyone that wants to understand how to deploy and manage the SuSE or Red Hat Linux platforms with Novell ZENworks Linux Management. This includes the ability to perform hands off installations, distribute patches and software, apply policies, remote control Linux workstations and much more.

The course is NOT meant for individuals running Novell ZENworks Desktop Management on Linux, which is covered in the Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management course.

Prerequisites
Students should have at least a basic understanding of the Linux platform, how to install software from RPM packages, how to install SUSE Linux or Red Hat Linux.
