License Tools 3.3.1 for IRIX®
License Tools 3.3.1 contains the utility programs used to manage software
licenses for products from SGI and from other vendors. It includes
License
Manager 3.3.1, the
FLEXlm License Server, and the
FLEXlm License Utilities.
Who should install this product?
License Tools 3.3.1 is the latest release of the software license user
environment, license_eoe. All systems running IRIX 5.3, 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4
should install this product. It upgrades all previous releases of license_eoe
on these platforms and contains enhancements and bug fixes.
What does it contain?
- License Manager 3.3.1
License Manager is the primary graphical tool used to manage software licenses
on SGI® systems. It allows users to install, update, and remove FLEXlm
nodelocked and floating licenses, as well as NetLS nodelocked licenses. License
Manager enables users to automatically install licenses from the Silicon Surf
Licensing Page.
- FLEXlm License Server
The FLEXlm license server subsystem is part of the License Tools product, but
not selected for installation by default. This subsystem,
license_eoe.sw.flexlm_server, should be installed on all systems that serve as
FLEXlm license servers. It contains the FLEXlm master daemon, lmgrd, and the
SGI vendor daemon, sgifd.
- FLEXlm License Utilities
The FLEXlm utility programs, including lmutil and lmstat, are used to report
the status of licenses, manage license daemons, and diagnose licensing
problems.
New Features for License Tools 3.3.1
- Automatic Server Management
With this release, License Manager automatically manages the FLEXlm license
server when installing floating licenses on the server system.
- Improved Security
License Manager is no longer a setuid program, but prompts the user for the
root password at startup.
- More Current License Daemon
This release contains FLEXlm version 5.12a of the FLEXlm licensing daemon.
- Addition of Alias|WavefrontTM Mode
License Manager now knows about the different default license file location for
Alias|Wavefront products.
- Multiple HostID Support
An SGI® Origin® family system may contain multiple hostids, one per module. A
license is valid if it matches any of the hostids in the system. This
simplifies license management when reconfiguring systems.
Where do I send questions?
Technical questions about License Manager and about the licensing software from
SGI should be sent to
