Intel® 32-Bit Architecture
Revised Support Policy for Windows NT®, Windows® 2000, and Intel 32-Bit Architecture Products

Windows NT and Windows 2000
As of July 1, 2001, SGI Technology Solutions discontinued Windows NT and Windows 2000 callpack and webpack support services.

High-quality Windows NT and Windows 2000 services are available from a number of sources in the industry. Microsoft Corporation offers a wide variety of Windows® OS support services. In addition, Microsoft maintains a list of third-party support providers if you would like an alternative or local service provider. SGI shipped a standard Microsoft distribution of Windows NT with our visual workstations and graphics clusters. Service for these distributions is widely available, and there is limited opportunity for SGI to add value. As a result, SGI no longer provides direct support for the Windows operating system.

Windows® XP
SGI Technology Solutions does not support Windows XP. Microsoft Corporation offers a wide variety of Windows OS support services. In addition, Microsoft maintains a list of third-party support providers if you would like an alternative or local service provider.

Intel 32-Bit Architecture
Between March 2000 and July 2002, SGI announced the end of production of all systems in our Intel 32-bit architecture product line. SGI will continue to provide support for SGI® products based on the Intel 32-bit architecture that are covered under existing warranty or support contracts. Hardware support will be available on a Time and Materials basis for customers whose warranty or service contracts have expired. Service contracts and warranty upgrades are no longer offered for sale or renewal.

Why did SGI discontinue direct support for Windows, Windows NT, and Intel 32-bit architecture?
As a corporation, SGI has decided to focus all resources on products using MIPS® and 64-bit Intel processors running the IRIX® and Linux® operating systems, where we can provide a differentiated level of technology and services for our customers.
