SGI teams with and values Channel Members of all types and business models. The SGI Channel Connection program overview describes the program for the following Member types:

  • Value-Added Resellers provide value added services with the sale of computer related products. Value-added services include custom software applications, support services, training, installation and consulting.
  • Mid-Tier System Integrators provide technical services to specify, design, build, and support complex information systems in support of unique customer requirements.
  • Fulfillment Resellers provide value add to customers through logistics, purchasing and program support.

Relationships with the channel types listed below are managed through specialized agreements, and SGI works with each individually to build mutually beneficial business plans and relationships.

  • Distributors stock products from vendors for resale to other Channel Members. Typically distributors provide services to their customers, including product inventory, on-line ordering, shipping, technical support, pre- and post-sales support, training, and credit handling. Many offer one-stop shopping with a wide variety of products, while others specialize either regionally or by product or technology set.
  • Country Distributors operate in a country where SGI has no subsidiary and are able to sell either to end users or resellers.
  • Master Resellers provide a single source of procurement for multiple related technology products and resell directly to end users and through various other types of Channel Members for the eventual sale to end-users.
  • Independent Software Vendors (ISV) develop and provide software applications and services, often integrating software solutions from other vendors.
  • Large System Integrators (LSI) provide technical services to specify, design, build, and support complex information systems in support of unique customer requirements.
  • Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) provide a branded "turnkey" product that provides transparent access to the embedded hardware/software solution.
